Thank you to all my readers who took the Reader Survey. The 2015 Reader Survey Results are in, and here is how you all responded!
I know I’ve said it before, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to complete the survey. It really helps me understand why you visit IK and what you expect to see when you get here.
For each question, I wanted to share what I learned from you. I thought it would be helpful for you to get my perspective and show you that I really do care about the answers!
What I loved seeing was that you equally care about savory dishes and desserts. I love the balance and it helped me realize that I need to bring you more sweets!
As I’ve said 10,000 times before, I tend to lean more toward savory dishes; and it made me realize I’ve missed an opportunity to reach readers that prefer sweet recipes.
That’s something I need to work on this year – help satisfy your sweet tooth!
Oh yeah, and keep it low fat. Haha! That’s ok…I like a good challenge. 🙂
I was most excited when I read this question. I *love* that you like the kitchen disaster posts!
I *thought* you did, but to have it confirmed had me pumping my fist shouting “YES!”
Truthfully, although I don’t like messing up recipes or having a kitchen disaster, they are the posts that are the most fun to write. I don’t mind poking fun at myself knowing that I created a complete cluster-mess in the kitchen.
I’ve made dozens of them. Just read my Second Year Blog Anniversary post where I share ALL my mistakes. <gulp>
We ALL make mistakes though and although I have a food blog, I’m just as prone to errors in the kitchen as you are. Maybe even more so because (a) I cook ALL the time for the blog and (b) because I have to test recipes multiple times, which means there’s bound to be failures!
This question was a bit of a surprise. No-one said ‘lack of inspiration’ was their issue in the kitchen.
I sometimes stand in front of my open pantry door, arms crossed, for 1/2 hour thinking “What the heck am I going to make tonight?”
To learn that you don’t have that problem makes me want your phone number so that I can call you the next time I do! Share your number, anyone? 🙂 JK.
I’m SO excited to see that you want reviews of products I love. I’m like super excited. You know why?
You guys are keeeeeeling me with this answer. I love seeing round-up posts too, but doing them? Another story.
You know why? Quite frankly, they take an incredible amount of time to do. Part of that is, when I share photos (with a link to another blogger’s site), I always first reach out to the other blogger for their written permission to use their photo. I never poach photos without permission. It’s part of my personal code of ethics in that I always want to respect their work and ensure they know that I’m using their photos and sending readers their way.
I think it helps me have good blogger mojo. Or, at least I hope it does.
But if it’s round-up posts you want, I will do it.
There were two things that struck me with this question and it resonated really well with me. 1. Weeknight recipes (good – I work during the day too) and 2. You want it in 30 minutes or less.
Got it! No problemo. This works for both of us.
When I see this question, I get a huge smile on my face. 🙂 See?
Do you realize the magnitude of your answers here?
It means you come mainly for the recipes (score!), but that you’ve opened up another world for me blog-wise. With the opportunity for you to like How To’s, Inspirational Ideas, Kitchen Tips/Tricks, Behind The Scenes and Fabulous Finds – wow!…there’s a lot more posts coming to an Inbox near you!
I’m super excited about this one, because I’ve wanted to expand the blog in more directions, and I haven’t been quite sure how you’d feel about that. Now I know!
w00t! You just gave me an excuse to go shopping too. I can’t wait to tell The Husband! 🙂
I was so surprised to see holiday recipes be the winning pony in this horse race. Not that I didn’t expect it – but I was really surprised to see that it was triple the importance of grilling.
Goodbye summertime 🙂 my readers don’t need you ’round here no mo’.
Of course I’m kidding. But if it’s holiday recipes you want, I got the message loud and clear.
I’ve decided to leave the survey open all year (all of 2015), because your responses mean so much to me and are incredibly helpful in growing my blog to a place that you want to visit.
