The Seahawks are going to the Superbowl! Yay! I’m so excited!
And, although it was a great day for the Seahawks, for me, not so much. Can you believe, just 19 days into 2014 and already my first kitchen disaster?
I had great plans to whip up a fabulous salad with the Sorghum I got at IFBC. They served a salad that was so tasty, I was just waiting for the right moment to make it.
I thought I could whip it up right before the game, so we had something to munch on.
Then, I saw the recipe on the back for popped Sorghum, and I thought “great idea”! Fancy-schmancy amped up popcorn for the game! Fun, right?
So, I got a paper bag just like the package said.
But, the end result was far from the touchdown the Seahawks were making.
But, I have to admit, they were the cutest, little popped kernels I’d ever seen in my life.
So, I thought I’d bring out the popcorn popper. It’s never failed me in the past.
And, try again. Round and round and round she goes.
Don’t worry. I put fresh kernels in there. I didn’t pop the previous ones. But… uh oh. Here’s the ‘but’. I increased the popping time.
Really, really bad idea.
Because the smoke that was coming out of the top of that popper and out of that microwave was thick, black and billowing. I’m scared of billowing.
I’ve never run so fast as I did on Sunday with that burning, bubbling, hot mess. I felt like a Seahawk going for a touchdown!
And, while everyone was hooping and hollering for the Seahawks, I was benched on the sidelines, mourning my defeat.
But…, like any good player, I tried to make a pass again.
I finally made some field advantage here.
Much, much better. Now, the Sorghum is all ready for the salad. Just a day or two after the Superbowl. I sure hope no-one was hungry.
