This Ceramic Bacon Cooker makes cooking bacon in the oven so fast and easy, and captures all the drippings!
So, have you ever seen one of these thinga-ma-hoos?
And, when I opened it on Christmas Eve, I gingerly took it out of the box, appropriately oohed at the really cool rustic color and then looked at it completely and utterly baffled.
I mean, it is a strange looking thing ~ isn’t it?
I literally took it in my hands, and turned it around and around, over and upside down, my mind racing to put together what it was and how to use it. There were no instructions, nothing on the box, and not a hint was found as to its purpose in life. After all – if I couldn’t figure out what this strange looking obvious-kitchen-gadget was, how in the world was I going to thank the gifter?
I had to come up with an appropriate response and fast.
Ever been there?
Strangely, it’s nice and heavy – it feels like quality. And, it’s got this really big loop handle that goes from the top of the cup to the bottom of the base (big enough for a gorilla’s hand if you ask me), and the saucer base is permo attached to the bottom of the cup where the saucer has this odd little spout in front.
Baffling.
As I sat there, I turned it over and over in my mind until I couldn’t stand one single more minute of the uncomfortable silence and finely blurted, “Errr…what is it?” trying not to be as ungrateful as the words sounded when they spilled out of my mouth.
“It’s a bacon cooker!” the gifter chimed enthusiastically, obviously proud of this delicious little find.
Wwwhhhaaattt?
Ok, now that sounds totally cool. I was definitely intrigued. But, how does it actually work?
Well…, come to find out – they say ya just hang the bacon over the sides, put it in the microwave, cook it for a few minutes – and presto! Instant deliciouso bacon. No frying pan spatters, no paper towels, less mess, less fuss. And, you know that cool little spout? Well, it very handily is meant to help you to dispose of, or save, your bacon grease when you’re done.
Now, how neat and handy is that?
I think this just might be the coolest gift ever.
So, I tried it at 4:30 this morning.
Come to find out, it works great for cooking bacon! Isn’t that bacon pretty?
But…, it’s not quite the no-mess, less spatter that it claims. It did spatter all over the microwave.
In fact, I was crouched down watching it as it cooked, so I could see how it worked, and the loudest “POW!…POP!…SNAP!…SIZZLE!” happened as the grease hit the window, scaring the living bahgeez out of me! It surprised me sssooo much – because I thought the door blew off – (because that always happens at my house you know) – anyway, it scared me sssooo bad, that I fell over backwards onto my bum.
True story.
There I was, sittin’ on the floor of the kitchen at 4:30 in the morning skaird – like a little girl, instead of the woman I am – of my microwave.
Then, to add insult to injury, the grease that had snapped against the window of the microwave, sslloowwllyy streaked down the window telling me how incredibly unhappy it was and reminding me I was going to have to clean the micro, big time. I could hear it laughing and mocking me “Enjoy your bacon, chica.”
But, the bacon was good ~ so I was happy. I mean, what’s not to love? It’s b-a-c-o-n we’re talkin’ about! But, the next time I make bacon, you know that paper towel they said it didn’t need? Well, me and it are going to become real close friends.
This snazzy little thing comes in two really great colors. This rustic burnt sienna you see here and a really nice soft country blue. Dishwasher, oven and microwave safe too. For $7.95, I think it did a good job.
Pick yourself up one of these Ceramic Bacon Cookers from LTD Commodities here or gift it (don’t forget the paper towels!). You won’t regret it.

I love this have had it over 12 years, looking for replacement and cannot find them reasonably priced! LTD no longer has them. Any ideas where I can purchase them?
