This easy, simple and healthy Buffalo Shrimp Appetizer is sauteed with Blue Cheese Greek Yogurt & Buffalo Wing Sauce, then served on crisp celery sticks for the ultimate low-fat, high protein, and healthy treat!
“”The Husband is gone, and I’m gonna be in trouble (hey-la, hey-la, The Husband is gone!).””
Friends, you know what that means, don’t you?
EXPERIMENT NIGHT! 🙂
We are so aaallll over that, yes?
So let’s make it easy, simple, healthy, delicious ~ and (drumroll please) ready in minutes! That way we have more time for alone time, which = complete peace and quiet.
Can you hear the Angels singing?
No worries you’ll hear “Honey…where’s the salt?” Despite the fact the salt hasn’t moved in 13 years.
I don’t know about you…but with the summer heat (95 degrees!), my appetite hits an all-time low. And with The Husband working late ~ this easy appetizer was perfect for that. Just enough to satisfy the need to eat ~ yet, it had enough protein, crispy veggies and complex flavor to be perfectly filling. And, it was less than 10 minutes to the table, which means more ALONE TIME!
Honestly, this was so tasty, I couldn’t wait for The Husband to get home and share it. Where is he?
This is a perfect appetizer for two!
Enjoy!
Buffalo Shrimp Appetizer for Two
Ingredients
- 12 to 14 raw shrimp peeled, deveined and tails removed
- 1 teaspoon Extra-Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 tablespoon wing sauce**
- 1 tablespoon Blue Cheese Greek Yogurt*
- 10 to 12 celery sticks cut into 3" slices
Instructions
- Add oil to a small saute pan and heat on Medium-High until hot. Add wing sauce and Blue Cheese Greek Yogurt and mix until thoroughly combined.
- Add shrimp and saute 2-4 minutes per side until shrimp are opaque and done throughout.
- Remove shrimp, place on cutting board and finely chop. Place shrimp back in saute pan, toss with sauce until thoroughly coated, then transfer to a bowl and serve with celery sticks.
Notes
**Choose your favorite bottled wing sauce. We used Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin' Sauce. CAUTION: the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin' flavor is the hottest flavor they have, so only use this if you can handle the heat!

Bahaha I do that too – get all excited to experiment with the husband gone and then I get really disappointed when it’s delicious and I want him to try it too! This looks excellent! And my husband is moderately to severely obsessed with buffalo wings. He’s gunna love this! Pinned!
Kristi says
Thanks for the pin Lindsey. I wish the photos turned out better. Another day where the camera was on vacation – I just feel like the colors are off. But, I have to tell you – with that Blue Cheese Greek Yogurt and Buffalo Wing Sauce – this was awesome – and so low fat!!!
Lindsey @ American Heritage Cooking says
I know how those days go…but, honestly, I didn’t notice anything was “off”
I guess I’ll be buying’ wing sauce!
Kristi says
Your so kind… 🙂 that’s why I love you.
Daniela @ FoodrecipesHQ says
Enjoy the warm summer weather. There’s a thunder storm here in London and it’s also kind of cold-ish :(. The shrimps are amazing!
Kristi says
Weird Daniela! Right after I wrote this post, the very next day we had a huge lightening and thunderstorm and pouring rains! And, it’s sort of cold-ish here too! 🙂 Sounds like we are having the same weather! Have a beautiful week!!!

Your husband is clearly missing out. I love shrimp dishes – usually quick and so tasty. Am I living under a rock that I didn’t know there was ‘blue cheese greek yogurt’?! Looks very delicious!
Kristi says
Monica, if you are living under a rock…girl, so am I!!! I just recently discovered it. And, you know how it goes, I was skeptical. I have to tell you though – I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It has amazing blue cheese flavor, but lower in calories. You should try the brand I bought – if you love blue cheese and Greek yogurt, girl this is where it’s at!!!
Shawn @ I Wash You Dry says
What a fun little snack! I have never tried using buffalo sauce on shrimps before. It sounds amazing!
Kristi says
Oh Shawn – you should try it! You get the buffalo flavor without all the fat. I loved this appetizer. It’s light though, so don’t make it, if you are starving! Hahaha!
Thalia @ butter and brioche says

Samina | The Cupcake Confession says
Kristi I hear you on the peace and quiet front!!! On the VERY RARE occasion when my grandparents went to visit their hometown, I had the mornings at home all to myself (mum goes to work) and those were the best 4 days and I went overboard with crazy experiments!!!! I wish I could get more ‘alone’ time like that! 😀 I LOVEEEEEEE how you incorporate heat in your food! I love spicy food and I’m so glad I can share all my extra-happiness when I read about how you also end up choosing the hottest variant of sauces available! 😀 Love this appetizer idea!!!!
Kristi says
Thanks Samina! I love that story about your alone mornings when family is out of town. You are right – it makes it for the perfect time to experiment. Which we all need more of – to create fabulous dishes! Have a beautiful week funny girl. You always make me laugh.
Arpita@ The Gastronomic Bong says

Alyssa @ My Sequined Life says
Experimentation time is the best! That way if something goes south…no one would ever know! Haha these obviously didn’t go south – they look GREAT. I definitely couldn’t handle the Blazin’ sauce (I picked the hot BBQ sauce instead of the medium at our work lunch yesterday and almost started tearing up in the middle of our meeting) but Frank’s Red Hot Wings is my happy place in spice-land. These are so happening soon!
Kristi says
Hahaha! Sorry you picked the wrong sauce Alyssa. That’s what’s great about being able to handle the hottest – no matter which one you order, you can’t go wrong! 🙂
Cate @ Chez CateyLou says
I love buffalo anything, and I especially love easy – so this is the perfect recipe for me! Also I can’t stop laughing over the “where’s the salt…” line – so funny!
Kristi says
Oh my gosh Cate – if you love the where’s the salt line ~ stick around. We’ve been married 23 years…I’ve got some stories to tell! Hahaha! Have a great weekend!
Jessica @ Jessica in the Kitchen says
Great appetiser Kristi! Love the flavours.
Kristi says
Thanks Jessica! It’s so easy too!
Ruby @ The Ruby Red Apron says
Yum! This shrimp sounds delicious! I have to look for that yogurt! I bet this would be great to top salads too.
Kristi says
Ruby, you will LOVE that yogurt. When I found it and tried it, I instantly fell in love! 🙂
