Easy Caramel Sauce

This Easy Caramel Sauce is sssooo easy to make at home and so much better than store bought – you’ll love how rich it is!

If you’re a caramel lover like I am, read on! I’m about to rock your caramel loving world.  🙂

Easy Caramel Sauce | Inspiration KitchenAs if the Caramel Banana Xango recipe wasn’t enough inspiration, I thought I’d share the homemade caramel sauce recipe I used.  I’m real friendly like that.

It’s sssooo easy to make at home and so much better than store bought!

Easy Caramel Sauce | Inspiration KitchenI could seriously eat this by the spoonful, no other dessert required.  I’m crazy-in-love with caramel sauce like that.  🙂

Even better, you can put it on the Caramel Banana Xango I shared with you on Monday.  Together?  Harmony!

Easy Caramel Sauce | Inspiration KitchenOh, and for those of you that said you hadn’t heard of a Xango before…they are typically fried and are similar to my baked recipe.  I opted out of the fried version in a {small} attempt to make it a bit healthier.  It’s kind of embarrassing to call it healthy when it has lots of cream cheese, caramel sauce and ice cream, but hey every bit counts!  🙂

Enjoy!

Easy Caramel Sauce

A deep, rich, creamy caramel sauce that is amazing over ice cream and decadent desserts.
Course: Desserts
Author: Kristi

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 3/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup butter cut into pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Combine sugar and water in a large saucepan and cook over medium-low heat, stirring often, until sugar dissolves.
  • Increase heat to medium-high and boil gently, without stirring, until syrup turns a deep amber color, occasionally brushing down sides of pan with a wet pastry brush and swirling pan (about 8 minutes). (Swirling the pan, instead of stirring, promotes more even cooking.)
  • Slowly add whipping cream (sauce will bubble vigorously).
  • Add butter; stir gently until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Oh, yum! Real, homemade caramel is so, so good – just totally elevated from what you buy in plastic bottles at the grocery store!! Nope – it’s an amazingly different, wonderful thing altogether! And really so easy to make – especially with your super-concise instructions (and great pics, too)!! Yeah – every Caramel Banana Xango needs this in its life! 😀

As far as I am concerned every little bit does count! It’s practically healthy now! And I am a HUGE fan of caramel sauce. HUGE. Yours looks so delicious! I love the deep amber color – that’s how I know it will taste just the way I like it! But I should have known that without looking at the pictures, because we’re, like, the same person. 😉

I always thought I wasn’t a huge fan of caramel (though that doesn’t explain my lifelong love of Twix) but homemade things seem to change the ballgame completely. You make it sound so temptingly easy and I love that deep color you got on this caramel.
