This Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout Beer Milkshake is rich and full-bodied with a strong espresso flavor. It makes for a great milkshake!
You guysssss... I’m back from Alaska and can I just tell you – it was an incredible, life-changing experience. Simply amazing. Not only was the scenery beautiful, but the food/drinks were to die for.
Over the next several weeks, I’ll share my photos and the Press Trip of a lifetime where I toured restaurants, breweries and distilleries in Juneau, Haines, Anchorage, Soldotna, Sterling and Homer. Alaska alone is an incredibly beautiful and breath-taking state, but their food, beer and spirits? Fabulous!
I hope you will all follow me where I write about the adventure and experience over at The Daily Meal.
With the spirit of Alaska still resonating in my heart and my mind, I’m sharing a drink recipe today using a craft beer from one of our local breweries, Elysian Brewing in Seattle, WA.
And, if you are one of those lovely people that don’t like beer, I’d like to try to convince you. 🙂
All of my close friends know that I love beer of all kinds. My favorite beers tend to be stouts or dark beers, but I also won’t turn down a Pilsner, IPA, Amber, Red or Brown. I guess I’m an EOBL (equal opportunity beer lover), and I’m always willing to give anything a try.
But, this Espresso Milk Stout Ale had me at hello.
When one my dear friends introduced me to this Elysian Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout Beer, I was really excited to try it. Alone, it’s a strong espresso flavored stout beer that’s very drinkable.
But, when mixed with ice cream? Divine!
The Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout combines the talents of Elysian Brewing and Stumptown Coffee in a deliciously smooth, very Northwest beer.
What is so great about this cocktail is, it’s only two ingredients: ice cream and this Split Shot Espresso Milk Stout Beer. It doesn’t get much easier or better than that.
Try it – you will love it!
Enjoy!

Laura ~ Raise Your Garden says
Haha, I’m one of those (haha lovely) people who have never drunk beer! But I love it in recipes. When I was pregnant, all I wanted was cheesy beer soup. Hmmm and I wonder why I gained 55 pounds?!? But I’ve never and it solo and certainly never considered popping it in a milkshake. But food cooked in beer is very tasty. I guess I have a lot to learn!!!
Kristi says
OMGosh Laura!… that is amazing. Beer is my drink of choice (vs. wine or hard alcohol). And, I love cooking with it. Just think, you have a very exciting culinary journey ahead of you as you try more and more ways to use beer! I say have fun with it! Haha!
Katrina @ In Katrina's Kitchen says
So my husband is trying to find a beer that he likes and I suggested a milk stout. I’m so going to find this one for him!
Kristi says
Great idea Katrina! It’s very drinkable, especially if he loves espresso and dark beers (stouts)! And, if he doesn’t like it that way, try it blended with ice cream – that will definitely change his mind! 🙂
Cailee @ http://hellohealthyeating.com says
Wow!! This looks so fun! 🙂 What a neat recipe!! 🙂
Kristi says
Thanks Cailee. Probably not healthy eating 🙂 (sorry, darling!), but definitely tasty! I guess it’s ok for an indulge. 🙂
Ami@NaiveCookCooks says
This is such a genius idea!! Never thought to use beer in milkshakes!!
Kristi says
You’d be surprised how amazing it is Ami! No milk necessary and if you get a Chocolate Stout, it adds incredible flavor too. There are so many great flavored craft beers, I just had to try it and now I’m hooked!
Sam @ SugarSpunRun says
I’d LOVE to go to Alaska, so jealous! And I bet my husband would LOVE this beer, I’m not much of a beer drinker but he is. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
