How quickly a year goes!
I thought it might be fun to share some facts and things I’ve learned over the last year.
Facts:
- I have taken over 15,554 photos since the launch of this blog
- I have deleted over 3,000 food photos alone since the launch of IK
- My website name changed from Cherry Jasmine to Inspiration Kitchen
- 56 days after launch, my photo was accepted by Foodgawker & Tastespotting!
- Since buying my new camera, it has already snapped more than 10,495 photos
Disasters & Oopsies!
- I was so excited to share this White Chocolate Coconut Cheesecake recipe with you, I put my camera’s SD card in the CD slot and had to use a paperclip to get it out. (Hey, don’t laugh, they are right next to each other!)
- And, do you remember my For Cripe’s Sake! #01 Ready…Set…Fail! post when I put my camera in time-out because it kept cranking out solid black photos making me look like a horrible photographer?
- Or, when I realized that I needed an intervention because of the Hot Sauce Explosion happening in my pantry when I discovered over a dozen bottles of them hiding in there?
- And, when I literally got sssooo startled at the sound of bacon popping in my microwave Ceramic Bacon Cooker that I fell over backwards on my bum in the kitchen? True story.
- Or, the day I tried to make Chocolate Stout Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting and ended up with a solidified, lumpy mess of cupcake batter all over the counter?

Congratulations!! I think I love everything on your list of things you could forever live without! 😉
We should pair up – we could clean each other’s plates!!
Kristi says
Hahaha! Sara – that would be perfect! Especially for the cucumbers, watermelon and sushi. I just cringe when I even read the words! But, strangely enough I like pickles. Go figure! Have a wonderful day!
Kiran @ KiranTarun.com says

Congrats and happy blogging my friend!
Kristi says
Thanks Kiran! I wished I’d kept track of them all, but I think the list would’ve been 5 miles longer. LOL.
Lindsey @ American Heritage Cooking says
Congrats!! You mentioned that you changed your blog’s name. Did you migrate your site yourself or did you have someone else do it? I want to change my blogs name but I’m nervous about losing data, SEO rankings, and just creating a big ol’mess!
So glad I found your site! Lovin it!
Kristi says
Thanks Lindsey! I moved it myself with the help of my web host. I kept the web host, so that didn’t change, which made the transition so much easier. Essentially, they did everything for me, with the exception of a few things I had to do. I am so happy to have changed my name. I liked the other name, but it just didn’t fit, ya know? I lost NO data in the transition, and no readers, so it was a really smooth transition for me. If you decide to do it, I’m sending good vibes your way so that everything goes flawlessly. Good luck! And, I’m very glad you found me too! I’m checking out your site right now! Thanks for coming!
Lindsey @ American Heritage Cooking says
Thanks for responding so quickly! I love your new name and it seems just perfect for you (as far as I can tell so far!) I’ll contact Go Daddy and see if they offer the same migrating services! I’m torn because I love my original name but it’s so limiting. I bought the new domain 4 months ago and have been waffling back and forth ever since.
ps- I’m with Consuelo above: your blog is inspiring and I can’t believe it’s only a year old!
Kristi says
Thanks Lindsey – that so kind of you about my website name. It seems like it took me forever to come up with something. I love hearing you find my blog inspiring. I try hard to inspire others, and it’s so nice to know that it’s actually showing to some of you! I’m so excited to hear your new website name! Be sure to let me know what it is – so that I can keep following you! I’m so glad we’ve become friends If you have questions about your website change and the transition to the new site – send me a private message and I’ll try to help! Share your new domain name – we want to know!!! 🙂
Christin@SpicySouthernKitchen says
Happy 1 year Anniversary! Love all your top picks and I’ll volunteer to eat any chocolate anyone sends you.
Kristi says
I will definitely keep the chocolate in mind! I’ve got at least 6 chocolate bars in my pantry (given to me) that I have no idea what to do with. I should send them to you so you can make something fabulous! Thanks for the Anniversary wishes! It’s been an incredible year!
Kelly says

Renee@Two in the Kitchen says
This is a little on the late side, but Happy Anniversary! I would imagine the first year went pretty fast huh? This post is cool for me to read because I started my blog almost a year after you started yours! ( Our launch date was Oct. 25th of 2013) I am excited to see where we will be in a year! I am also laughing at some of your mishaps because I can relate to many. I did a whole “photo shoot” once with NO card in the camera!! I am also an unknowing “hoarder” -my husband once counted 12 egg cartons in the fridge at once and I’m like, “What? I need eggs!!!” Anyway, I love your blog! You have unique, flavorful and inspiring food in your repertoire and I’ll be visiting a lot more often!!
Kristi says
Welcome Renee! So glad you found me. 🙂 CONGRATULATIONS on your blog launch! The next year for you will fly by. Be sure to keep track of your mishaps (I wished I would have), because they make for a super fun blog post, and nearly every blogger can completely relate. Holy cow girl – that is a LOT of eggs! I’m LOL over here! Checking out your blog now. Much success in this new year!
