These Spicy Tequila Shrimp Salsa in Wonton Cups are crispy, crunchy and luxurious with cream cheese, spicy salsa and seasoned shrimp.
Have you ever seen a simple idea so brilliant you just want to smack your forehead and go “Doh! Why didn’t I think of that?”
Oh for the love of super easy Wonton Cups!
The perfect way to serve an appetizer. And, so easy!
The great thing about these wonton cups is, you can prepare the cups in advance and stuff them with your favorite appetizers whenever you’re ready.
Once they’re baked, they’re ready to fill with something wonderful! Like a nice, cool dollop of luxurious and rich sour cream. Just a touch!
Then, we’ll layer it with a spicy hot, jacked-up salsa.
Seriously, these were one of the most fun appetizers I’ve ever made. 🙂 Super easy and sssooo delicious.
Topped with our spicy, marinated Tequila-Lime Seasoned Shrimp.
It’s almost embarrassing to call them Tequila Shrimp since there’s only 2 teaspoons of Tequila in them. That, and the fact they’re only marinated in the Tequila, but I want you to know it’s there.
One bite and you’ll fall in love.
The wontons are crispy, crunchy and the perfect fit for the soft, luxurious cream cheese, which mellows the spicy salsa ~ all enhanced by the seasoned shrimp.
This is another one we’re adding to our favorites!
All these light appetizers are getting me ready for summer! Aren’t you ready for some great weather? Bring on the sunshine!
Enjoy!

Chinu says
Hi!
I got so excited after seeing this recipe because I’m throwing a party for my son this coming Sat for al most 25 people. Last couple of days I’m trying to make some sample before the party so I can be very sure what I’m doing. But I am afraid my wonton sheets are not baking properly. Some areas become nice and crispy but some like half baked. I tried with three different wonton wrappers and also tried with spraying the pan but always the same unsatified result. Please advise. I really want to make this perfectly so I can impress my guest. I would really appreciate any advise you may have.
Kristi says
Hi Chinu! A few suggestions. Wonton wrappers are very, very thin, so be sure that you only have one wonton in each muffin cup. Also, does your oven heat with even temperature? I’ve made these several times, and never had a problem with them baking properly. Also, be sure not to prep the entire dish in advance :-). You can bake the wonton cups ahead of time, but you’ll want to prep and fill them right before serving. I hope this helps – if not, let me know and I’ll try them to see what results I get again…although I’ve made them several times, I’d like to see if I can duplicate the results you’re getting. If you want, send me a private email and send me a picture! That would be really helpful! 🙂
Chinu says
Thank u so much for your reply. It was very nice of u taking your time for me. I used the Phillo sheets to make my cups for the party. It worked fine and every one loved them. But I will surely try again with wonton sheet. Now I’m not sure about my oven because I’ve a pretty new oven and everything else seems working fine. I’m going to keep trying and I’ll keep u informed.
Many thanks
Kristi says
Thanks Chinu! So glad your party worked out. I’m happy to help with any questions you have!
