These Steamed Jalapeno Pork Wontons are so flavorful with just a few ingredients. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce!
Mystery Dish always brings good things. You know this.
This month’s Mystery Dish was no different – except that it was an amazing list of ingredients that I could hardly wait to get my hands on!
I was {thisclose} to making a dessert, but you know me…I saw the jalapenos and I got stars in my eyes and started designing a savory recipe.
#somethingsneverchange
Let me just say, this recipe made WAY over 24 wontons. But…, I got tired at 24…
So, just know that you can get least two times the number of wontons than I did out of this recipe.
I know you can do it, you little wonton maker, you! 🙂 Me? Not so much. Me tired.
This is some jalapeno goodness wrapped up in paper thin wonton wrappers, then tossed in a hot skillet for 1 minute then splashed with some wah-wah, slam on the lid and instant steamy goodness will come out of that pot.
Don’t be fooled. Easy, peasy.
I *loved* Gloria’s list this month! Such endless possibilities. Here was this month’s line-up and my choices (highlighted).
- cherries
- wontons
- baking chips
- jalapenos
- eggs
- potatoes
- sweetened condensed milk
- Greek yogurt
- peanut butter
- buttermilk
- pork loin
- beans (canned or dry)

- 1 pound pork loin ground
- 1 large jalapeno finely chopped (roughly 1/4 cup)
- 1/2 to 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup from an 8-ounce can whole water chestnuts, chopped fine
- 1/4 cup roasted red pepper finely chopped
- 1 .66 ounce package chives (roughly 1/2 cup)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cracked black pepper
- 1 14 ounce package Won Ton Wrappers
Dipping Sauce
- 1/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup chili garlic sauce
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- cooking spray
Instructions
- Grind pork loin in a food processor until finely ground.
- Spray a large, deep cooking pan with cooking spray. Add pork loin and jalapeno and cook on medium heat** until pork is done. Remove from heat, set aside and let cool.
- Once cool, mix pork and jalapenos with water chestnuts, roasted red pepper, chives, salt and black pepper.
- Lay out wonton wrappers out in a single layer on a cutting board. Add one small teaspoon of meat mixture in the center. Then, rub water around all edges of the wonton wrapper and fold corner to corner and seal.
- Heat oil over high heat until hot. Add wontons and cook on M-H for one minute. Add a 1/8 cup of water, place lid on and let steam.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, or the one provided!

Kristi says
Sure Ashley! I’d love to bring you some! We can have a festive beverage and talk food! LOL. Oh my, if you could only count how many lazy cook days I have. 🙂 Have a great weekend!

Of course you honed in on those jalapeños! I wanted to as well, but time got away and I used up a leftover and made breakfast. haha I’ve never made a wonton, and that needs to change! Pinned. 🙂
Kristi says
Thanks for the pin Marcie! I’ve made wontons several times, but let me tell you – be ready to settle in for a tedious process! I get tired about half way through. Hahaha! Have a great weekend! xoxo

So glad you like it Marissa. With the right cheese (c-o-t-i-j-a) (in case you’ve forgotten – hahaha!), they are really tasty! 🙂
Marissa | Pinch and Swirl says
Glad you reminded me 😉 I did pronounce it wrong for decades, so it may take a while to sink in.
Kristi says
Hahahaha! I’ve got your back my sistah – you know that!

I love wontons, especially the steamed ones, but I am usually so lazy to make them…you got me inspired Kristi…and the peanut sauce is a must!
Thanks for the recipe…enjoy the rest of your week my dear 🙂
Kristi says
Thank you Juliana! I have to admit – I got tired really quick. But I couldn’t give up because I know my readers want to make them, and I’m sure making 6 wontons wouldn’t be enough! Haha!
Ruby Red Apron says
Yum, I love wontons. But you’re right I get tired halfway too. The filling in these sounds delicious and very tasty!!

I’ve never made wontons and I love them. I have no clue why I haven’t. If it’s got jalapeno in it you can bet this Texas girl is all in!
Kristi says
You’ll love them Marye – but just know they take a lot of time! They are kind of tedious to make – so put on a good TV show and start wrapping! Haha! Have a great weekend!

Hahaha as much as I love wontons, I totally get lazy after making only a few too! My mom used to get us to help her wrap them and I absolutely dreaded it after 5 lol. Yours look absolutely mouthwatering! Of course I love the spicy jalapeno in here and that chili peanut sauce sounds perfect! I could easily devour all 24 in one sitting 🙂
Kristi says
Me too Kelly! The more the better, as long as someone else makes them! 🙂
